Hi Shirley:
I tried calling you earlier
today. I really loved
meeting you and your beautiful dogs. I am in love with them! I am going
to send a deposit for a puppy within the next few days. "It is
amazing that your kennels do not smell considering the amount of dogs
that you have."
Thanks again!

Poca, our NAID from Night
Eyes
Farms, is the sweetest dog and full of so much joy. As a
puppy she was
a wild child who loved to play for hours on end. At 3.5
years old, she
has settled into being a great companion dog and matches her mood to
ours. If we're up, she's up. If we're quietly relaxing, so
is she.
She's very independent, which we like, and has been easy to
train and
catches on quickly. She's a bit cautious and notices
everything in her
environment (no hiding peanut butter from this one!).
She gets along
extremely well with other dogs, which is nice, and adores nothing
more
than a romp with her many human and dog friends at daycare.

Cherokee
was wonderful on the ride home - she gave us a warning when she needed
a potty stop - which we were very impressed with. So the ride was
smooth and not messy at all :)
Dakota was a little over
enthusiastic
with her at first but now they just love each other. We will
continue
to keep an extremely close eye on them for a very long time but so far
so good!!
Cherokee also LOVES her crate
and is sleeping soundly in
there now after a tiring play session with Dakota (Cherokee keeps
jumping on Dakota and Dakota is being so gentle with her - we are so
proud of her and we are giving her lots of extra attention and praise!).
I'm sure I won't be getting much
sleep anytime soon...but I have two very happy puppies here so we are
all smiling!
Thank you!
Nicole P.
She (Cherokee) had a great
second day - playing like crazy with
Dakota and all of us. She is a lot of fun - maybe more dominant than
Dakota...but we will see! Dakota just loves her - Dakota wants to be
with her always and I think is a little worn out from getting up with
us throughout the night. She is being so gentle and careful with her -
it is so cute!)
Cherokee is certainly a cutie
pie.
This is the best breed of dog
ever!

Hi Shirley,
Sorry it has been so long since
I last emailed you, I feel terrible!
Sam is doing great! We couldn't be happier with him! He and Jonah (from
MV Kennels) are
still having tons of fun
together. I just them into be weighed this last week and Sam
was 49
pounds and Jonah was right at 60.

Night Eyes,
My husband and I are going to get
a dog sometime this coming summer. We are putting it off till
then because we are moving to Nevada
in may. I was curious if one of your puppies could handle
the
the Nevada heat? After about threes years we
will be headed back to Colorado
(my husband will be out of the air force), so the pup wouldn't live out
its whole life there. One of our family friends has a dog from
you and
I absolutely adore her! She is so smart, beautiful, and sweet! .

Hi Shirley,
I just wanted to let you know
that my wife had no reactions to the
hair sample you sent. So your success rate is still
99.999%! Thanks
again for sending it.
Take care,

- update on Kodi
I have learned more from watching the dog shows on t.v. on
training her, and she is very, very smart. She still isn't all
about coming when called but sits and stays pretty much on
command. She is so much fun to hang out with. Still is
crazy but is now becoming very interested in people, as long as there
aren't tons of things going on at once. She's even let three or
four people pet her. She loves my daugher's baby, gets along well
with the cats, with the exception of putting their heads in her mouth,
and generally is turning into a great pet.
Just want to say, again, the lady who
didn't pick Ms. Kody missed out on a really fun puppy. She'll
play with me for hours and hours, and is very cute about giving
love. Not your standard puppy love but I do get a lot of
kisses. And her ears are so magnificent -- everyone loves her
ears!
Thanks so much, and I can't wait to see the
new puppy pictures.

Dear Shirley,
Thank you for the hair sample. We
received it, and happy to
report, my husband was completely allergy free. He literally wiped
the
hair all over his face, eyes, throat, etc. Usually what happens when he
has an allergy to dander is his skin gets red/blotchy and burns like
crazy. However, he experienced absolutely no allergy whatsoever.
Yay!!!!!
Look forward to hearing from you,
Nicola

Hi Shirley, happy new
year! Our little guy - who
we've decided to name Comet, after the reindeer, since he's a Christmas
puppy, and the "comet" on his head - is doing great. As of today,
one ear is all the way up, and the other looks like it's thinking about
it. I'm attaching an early picture of Comet and Cody in a
passive-aggressive bed stand-off, but I'll upload more recent pictures
soon. They're having a GREAT time playing, and he's adjusting to
his crate at night reasonably well. He has his first vet
appointment on the tenth for his last round of worming, and I'll work
out a schedule for any future appointments at that time. He's
doing a great job socializing with people and kids, and he already has
virtually no problem with a leash. I can't tell you how glad I am
you breed these awesome dogs and that we got one.
Thanks!
Anne

Hi Shirley
I just wanted to let you know
that Dakota is adapting
well to her new home (and she was perfect on the car ride home - not
even one accident!). She is still sleepy and a little tentative
but
otherwise seems happy. She loves her crate and also loves to fall
asleep on top of people. She is also doing extremely well using
the
potty spot in the yard.
Thank you so much for such an
amazing puppy!

Shirley,
Just
thought you would want to
see some recent pictures of Poca. She looks just like
Remah! She really is the most beautiful dog -- people stop us all
the time to say so and to ask about the breed.

Hello Shirley,
We just spoke and I
really wanted to thank you again for always being available to answer
our questions about Tala. We named her Tala because it means wolf
in
Native American. As my daughter and husband tease she is our big, black wolf.
When we spoke we both were thinking she was going to be three but when
I looked at the certificated she was born in February 2006. She is going to be
two in February, they stay puppies for a long time!!! One more
year and three should be even better.
We
are enjoying her as a part of our family and my daughter seems to be
her favorite. Tala is more gentle with her than she is with
us. We
just have to be careful because although she may still be somewhat of a
puppy in some countries they might consider her a small horse.
She is
tall and long bodied. Her fur is changing some as she is getting
older. There is a black layer over a reddish gray
undercoat. And just
today we noticed her once solid gold eyes now have spots of red in
them. We are concerned but hope it is something natural
progressing in
them.
We
know she is smart and stubborn. Tala took to the collar and
walking on
leash beautifully. We are so proud to walk her and train her when
there are no distractions. But, when those distrations are
present she
turns into Miss. Social and wants to play!!!!
Here are a few pictures of Tala
and our daughter Sydnie!!!
We will send more updates and
stories soon!!!
Thanks again,
Ralph, Stephanie and Sydnie

Hi Shirley,
I got my dog Hopi from you back
in 2001 (when you were in Oregon ). She was
Jenna’s pup. I cannot thank you enough for bringing this dog into
my life. She has become the “neighborhood” dog. Everyone
loves her. She is smart and extremely obedient. She was
trained
well and we are now convinced that she completely understands English.
My
wife, who never liked dogs, has completely fallen in love with her.
I
attached some recent pictures. <>
I am
reaching out to you because we recently had our first
child on July 3. Everyone warned me that I should bring something
home
for Hopi to smell before I bring home the baby. I was not worried
though,
because our dog has the kindest and most gentle heart of any animal
that I ever
owned. <>
Well, she
did not let me down. From the moment our
daughter came home, Hopi has made it her mission to protect the little
baby. She
never leaves the side of whomever is holding the baby, she sleeps at
the foot
of the crib, and she “stands guard” by the baby seat.
<>
I have
purchased a harness and I have begun to train Hopi so
she can pull the baby carriage while I
walk the baby. <>
I promise
you that when we move to a bigger place, we will
be purchasing another pup from you. <>
I hope you
are well and that you are enjoying your new
place. <>

Shirley,
I
want to tell you that this girl really blows me away. I have not had
one allergic reaction to her and I am considered to be highly allergic
to dog dander. She is smart, eager to please and does not know a
stranger. She was easy to house train with the aid of her crate
which she loves. I have taken off the door so she can come and go
at will, she puts her self to bed...
ha-ha.
Thank
you once a gain for allowing me to have her.
love,

I'm interested in your male
puppy.
Looking forward to the hair sample so we can test for allergy.
Temperament
is most important to me; color & gender a distant 2nd.
Any picture of this pup on
your
website?
BTW, a friend of mine who
evaluates
incoming dogs & cats at the Marin Humane Society was impressed with
your website and breeding philosophy.

Hi Shirley. It's been
awhile
since we've talked but everything is great here! Lakota
(Kota/Kota
Bear/Bear/Puppsie/Puppsie Ruppsie) is doing wonderfully. He is
smart,
strong and beautiful.
He listens well in the house, but
we
still have our obedience issues if he is outside off leash. He
gets
along great with one of our three cats. He cleans him, plays with
him and chases him.
It's quite entertaining.
Kota did get in a little trouble
outside
when he ate some of the wood siding around one of our windows.
But
he was bored and . . . oh well. He digs a little and loves to
bury
his bones --
inside and out! He burys
them
in the couch cushions. He sleeps very well and goes into his
crate
willingly at night, sleeping all night until sometimes 10 or 10:30
am!
So, we love our Kota Bear.

and
need to get the paperwork going for the rebate. He’s a great dog – what
a character! I’m sure you can tell that from some of the photos.

Hello Shirley:
I hope this note finds you well.
Attached
is a copy of Spirit's graduation certificate from puppy training class.
She is a happy and calm dog. We are enjoying her very much. One of her
favorite activities is haning out by the lake and stalking the ducks
that
land on the grass. We will forward pictures to you soon. People stop us
on the street and ask what kind of breed she is and remark how
beautiful
she is.
Best Wishes,
Jane.

Hello Shirley,
My name is Kristina. I
live in
Orange County and have been looking into getting a dog for our family
(our
first). I have a five year old daughter who has wanted a dog for
as long as she has talked J and we have been waiting until it seemed
like
the right time. My daughter and I both have some allergies, so I
have been searching the web for “hypoallergenic dogs.” How
disappointed
my husband and I were to see that they all looked like powder puffs –
except
the NAID! We fell in love with the looks of them right away, and
upon reading more about them, they sound absolutely wonderful. Just
what
we are looking for!
I cannot tell you how
excited
I am. I have longed for a dog for many years and feel such an
affinity
for what I am learning about this breed. My grandfather is
Luiseno
Indian from the San Diego area and I grew up knowing his many
“wolf-like”
dogs at his reservation home. My husband’s grandmother’s family
is
Lakota from the Pine Ridge reservation in So. Dakota. I guess
that’s
why our hearts leapt when we saw your dam and sire pictures.
Please let me know when we
might come
meet you and your dogs.

"Poca is doing great and is a
very
sweet dog. We worked with a trainer so she would know her basic
commands
and we are going to her third puppy class tonight. She is house-trained
as far as potty goes and gradually she is coming off leash at home,
though
she wants to jump on the couch still she likes to sleep most of the day
so she can run with her dog friends the dogs in the park at night."

Hi Shirley,
I want to thank you for
letting us adopt
our two pups from Remah and Canth. Seeka and Sitka are the
smartest
dogs that I have ever owned. My trainer is amazed at how well mannered
and social that they are, and she says that you did a excellent
job
with socializing them. Because of their appearance, and what she
has read on the web, she was afraid that they might be wolf dogs.
She now believes that they are what you state, "A wolfy looking DOG,
that
is all". She is going to talk with some of her search and rescue
buddies about your dogs, and hopes to send some referrals your
way.
Both Bob and I can't thank you enough for all your help, your honesty
about
the breed, your wonderful facilities, and the love and care that you
give
to your pups as well as permanent residents.
Thanks again for a job well
done!!

7-1-06 <> "Kayo is
the
most amazing dog
I have
ever seen; so human and caring in his thoughts, actions, and feelings.
His intelligence has repeatedly blown me away. I taught him all his
commands
by voice, and by human sign language. He even knows some commands if I
give him a certain
look.
My last two dos were wolf
dogs, and
he is much like them, with his loyalty and pack mentality, but he is
more
intelligent and more easy and tighly intergrated into the pack of my
family
and friends. When I take him to the dog run (park) he plays with
every other dog."

Hi Shirley,
Just wanted to let you
know that
both Dash and Moki started training last week. Joanne says that
Dash
is already a star with from all the training I have done with
him.
That made me feel pretty good! He is doing great. Has play
dates all the time withneighborhood dogs. She calls him the Mayor
of Mt.Prospect. I couldn't be happier that he made such an easy
transition.
Moki is also doing much better with Dash's help.

Hello, My
name is
Na'tahne and I am a Tsalagi woman whohas been interested in NAID's for
many years (myGrandmother used to own similar dogs in Tahlequah,OK -she
called them "wolf dogs" or "spirit dogs")and am now at a place in my
life
where I finallyhave the time and space to have one. I am hoping
that
my husband, daughter and I can come for a visit soon. We are
interested
in any gender or color. A puppy would be nice but we would also
be
happy with a semi-trained 1 - 2 year old.Should we fill out the on-line
form and email itto you or just bring it with us (and the deposit) when
we visit? When can we come? We are in SonomCounty and
can drive down this weekend. If you are already booked, let me
know
when is good for you. Call (# below) or email what works for you.
I am so excited to have
found
you and yourwonderful facility and look forward to meeting youand your
beautiful dogs.

Shirley,Kaiya has the
most
perfect-personality, and is just as is (if not more so) beautiful, dog,
we've ever met in our whole life. We've been on the road for all
those hours, to the park, and to Safeway; she walks Great on a leash,
she
is friendly to strangers ( adults and toddlers alike) she has
Personality
Plua! We love her in every way. She is "close" to being house
trained,
Potty wise, But she is everything Else we were looking for .
<>Anyway,
we are 110% happy with kaiya, everyone wants to know what "kind" of dog
she is - and it usually takes me about 10 to 15 minutes to explain her
to them; but I am so proud. The new puppy is everything we expected,
and
my husband says thank you too; and so far, the cactus is doing
fine...

Hi, Shirley~
It's
about
10:15 p.m. Monday and we have been home with the pups for about 20
minutes.
They are so cute and SO sweet! They traveled great - no car sickness or
anything. Most of the time they both just slept in my lap. We had a
couple
of icy patches, but overall it was a great drive. We even got to see a
friend of ours from Kyrgyzstan who is going to school at the University
of Great Falls.
We
gave
the dogs another 1/2 pill each about 10 minutes ago. Do they need 1/2
pill
each, every day until they pills are gone?
Well,
we
are just thrilled. You've done a great job of raising them and we will
highly recommend you to anyone who is interested. In fact, one of the
ladies
who works at my school said her daughter may be interested. Sorry you
had
to go through so much getting them flown. The people at the airport in
Great Falls were wonderful with them.
Have
attached
a picture - if I attached the right one, it's of the two pups having a
tug-of-war with one of their new toys. Oh, and they are CRAZY about the
snow! They love it!
Thanks
so much for everything, Shirley. I didn't want to call you because I
know
you had a long drive back and I didn't know if you were sleeping.
Hopefully,
you'll get this tonight and know they are safe and sound.
Peace,

Wanted to let you know Percy is doing wonderfully. Everywhere she goes
she gets compliments on being the most beautiful dog people have ever
seen.
She's so friendly with people and dogs and got amazing compliments from
her puppy socialization class instructor for having perfect, non
aggressive
playful behavior. She is so intelligent, gentle and mischievous and
seems
to have us all figured out by now. Thanks for a beautiful companion.

Just
a update on Jasper. The annoying puppy behaviors have all but
vanished.
He is the sweetest most beautiful and most intelligent animal in the
world!
We have had quite a bit
of snow
this winter. True to his heritage, he loves it. The attached

about 3.5 feet of snow. Even though the snow was up to his neck
he
was able to forage through the snow just like a little plow! Hope
you enjoy the picture

Buying a puppy from you was one
of
our best decisions. We love our little guy! He is really a great dog.I

Dear Shirley: I just wanted you
to know
that I have completly enjoyed spending the morning exploring your
website.
It is simply incredible. I have learned about the breed, my own indian
herritage as well as behavior and training suggestions that I can both
use and pass on to others. We are in Wilsonville Oregon, halfway
between Portland and Salem. What town are you close to? I did not
recognize
the name of the town you mentioned on the website. <>Thanks

for this amazing gathering of information.

Koda
has his appointment to be neutered on the 19th of this month and he
will
get his rabies shot then as well. I hope you got the Christmas card of
the kids and Koda--isn't he a beauty? He's a wonderful addition to the
family. The kids love to make him "sit", "lie down", and "wait" for his
treats. All his puppy teeth are gone and his adult teeth are nice and
white
because he loves having his teeth brushed!! He'll go to his basket of
chew
toys and choose what he wants then go lie down on his dog bed to chew
away.
He does love pig ears though! Our neighbors love when he is out for a
walk
and stops by. A family who lives next door is seriously thinking of
getting
a dog (I gave them your phone number and e-mail) and in the meantime,
their
girls have "adopted" Koda. They even gave us dog bones as a Christmas
present
for him! Our neighbor's dog Freddy also has become Koda's best buddy
and
since their fence backs up to our yard, Koda and Freddy can visit every
day.
Joanne
Vet
loved percy and she has a clean bill of health. I'll submit a
fecal
sample to test for worms. Westarted percy on revolution flea control,
taking
her vitamins daily. she is able to hold her urine andstool overnight
now.
she has already grown since she's arrived. everyone who meets her falls
in love with her. She is settling in very well, has a favorite
cushion
as her bed in the kitchen area and is even starting a tentative guard
bark
as well. :)

Hi
Shirley, Just thought I'd send you a
quick
update on how Tehya and Arrow are doing. She is about 9 months
now
and he is 12 weeks today! They are getting along famously!
They love each other a lot and have a blast playing! He has
learned
that Nathan and I are the leaders of the pack thanks to your great
advice!
He lets us play in his food when he eats and he has already learned to
come, sit and wait. He is so calm and wonderful! We had a
Christmas
party on Saturday and he was the star of the show. Everyone
played
pass the puppy because he was so darn sweet and cute! He's also
getting
along with our king of a cat better than Tehya did at his age. He
will start puppy class on January 6th, which I can see being a great
success,
and he will receive his 3rd set of shots not long after that. He
is definitely still a bit of a Joan Rivers at times if we leave him
alone
in a room. He's quite attached to us and a superior
snuggler!
His Grandma comes over every Monday to puppy sit and they get
completely
spoiled by her. Thanks again for helping
us
pick such a wonderful boy! Attached is their most recent photo!
Sincerely,
Nathan
and Deanna
Hi Shirley,
Kayo
is doing great. I can't believe how quickly he learns new tasks. I had
him completely paper trained in a day and a half. He knows his name and
responds very well with the recall training. He knows sit, down, up,
and
understands stay. He is a very unique dog. I, nor anyone who has met
him,
has ever seen a dog that resembles him - even my vet was intrigued. I
am
very much looking forward to his development into a full-grown
dog.
Thanks
for the update, and yes, I am enrolling him in a puppy class starting
Wednesday
next week. I will spend pictures soon.
Bret
Hi
Shirley!
How
are you?
Thought
you might want to have an update on Teyah....she's great! I've
attached
a picture taken today. She is doing so well. I think you
breed
your puppies to be like SuperPuppies! She is only 4 months old
and
she is already a long distance runner! She ran 8 miles with us
last
weekend! She wanted to go for more! We've worked her up to
8 miles over the past month but I was truly surprised that she had such
amazing stamina and her paws were fine! I was prepared to carry
her
as many miles as she wanted but she just squirmed everytime she was in
my arms....."put me down...I'm a big girl!" she said!
Puppy
class is also going very well and she is so smart that she does her
behavior
super quick and then runs around the room doing the behavior to all the
other puppy Mommies and Daddies so they will give her treats too.
She's too funny!
Everyone
who has met her loves her and she especially has her Grandma completely
wrapped around her paw!
Thanks
again
so much!
With
much appreciation,
Deanna
Hi
Shirley!!
So good to hear from you!!!
Teyah has already had her
shots and
is for another round and another deworming on June 21st.
I've attached her latest
picture.
She's a great little girl! She goes everywhere with us on the
weekends
and mostly rides around in her sling so she doesn't sniff up any
parvo.
My friends think I'm a little neurotic about that but I'm not going to
let anything happen to her! She even did a 3 mile run / walk with
me last weekend! Well....little running and lots of being
carried...
:) She's getting so big too! We will start puppy class on
June
10th and I'm hoping she won't be bored because she already knows how to
come...sit...lay down....roll over...take the treat
gently....stay....fetch....leash
training will be the biggest goal for that class. She falls
asleep in anyone's arms when she is tired and loves being handled by
people
at anytime.
People go crazy over
her. They
always ask what kind of dog she is and when I tell them Native American
Shepherd they get this look on their face and say, "hhmmm I've never
heard
of that breed"....so I tell them how wonderful you are! She is
already
gentle with kids but isn't so sure about big dogs. She and her
big
cat brother are getting along better than ever.
Thank you again! We are
crazy
in love with our little Teyah!
Hope all is well with
you.
Thanks,
Deanna
Dear Sandy;
(I
figured it was time we called you the name you prefer!)
How
do we send the pups back? Right! We have had the little
stinker,
monster, monkey pups for 2 weeks now, and they have successfully wormed
their way into our hearts. They're a handful 1 second, and lover
dogs the next. We checked out an obedience class that was
recommended
by several people that Chuck works with, and have decided to board them
at the same place while we are away. We just don't think the
parents
are up to the task, as they're definitely ready for some training, and
the parents would probably just let them run wild and feed them people
food. The trainers will work with them every day, and since they
only board 8 dogs at a time the pups will get enough attention.
Jacy's
left ear is all the way up now. I kinda liked it droopy, even
though
he doesn't need that to give him character! KoKo is a
beauty.
I took them to the vet for their bordatella and 6in1, and the clients
as
well as the office workers went nuts over them. Both pups have
received
personal instructions from Pokey, the male cat. Pokey gives them
a warning hiss, and if they don't back up he swats them. I saw
Pokey
laying down with both of them yesterday. Missy is coming around,
but she prefers them when they're in their cage.
OK,
more later. Hope you enjoyed your sojourn to California, and that
you are also enjoying this holiday weekend.

Hi
Shirley-
I
just have to tell you this puppy is PERFECT. In just a few
days, I'mblown away by her intelligence, ability to learn quickly,
obedience,
lovingnature, and cuteness. I've never had a dog before and
I told my husbandlast night I'm spoiled for life by this breed
and
this pup. We installeda doggie door on Monday and once she
figured
it out, she's used it withouthesitation to complete her business
outside.
No urging, she justgoes...amazing. I thought for sure yesterday
and
today when I went to workfor a few hours there would be a mess when I
came
home. Nope. She did cryquite a bit when I returned and did
chew a wee bit of carpet yesterday. Then she wouldn't let me out of her
sight for a several hours, but nottoday. She was just sitting in
her crate when I arrived, happy to see me,waiting to be petted. No
mess.
I just love her! She's unbelieveable andtotally
irresistable.

Hi,
I
just had two families show up with 5 kids all under the age of 9 in one
family and one family with 4 kids all under the age of
7.........Yikkes!!!!!!!!!
Not to mention aunts and uncles and mom and dads............my poor
dogs
they were as shocked as i was. They all thought Neotsu was
a Whitney pup and they loved her and of course she loved all of them
too.
lol!! The pups had the kids running..well part of them
anyway.........chasing
the kids and grabbing shirts, hair coats, tennis shoe
laces........hehehe.......It
was amusing anyway......Just wanted to tell you that they loved Neotsu.

Hello,
My
name is Tomas and I was just writing to commend you on such an
informative,
website. I stumbled across your site looking for a future
companion
and when I saw your dogs I could not believe the beauty that I
saw.
Not only that, but I have never seen, let alone, heard of any breeder
that
was as much involved and as informed as you and your crew. I was
in complete awe of everything that was presented I could not help but
read
every piece of information that you had listed. In my opinion
these
are the most beautiful dog I have ever seen and you make it easy to see
that your breeding is sincerely about the dogs and there welfare.
I, unfortunately, am not able to purchase one of the dogs yet, but
please
ensure that when I am able to, I hope that you will be the breeders
that
I am able to come to.
Please keep me informed of things
to
come with your breeding, the dogs and the website. I hope to hear
from you in the future.
Sincerely Thomas S.
We
are very pleased and enthused to furnish a strong letter of
recommendation
and praise for Shirley Raisch of Night Eyes Farms. We are the very
happy
‘parents’ to Marti, a wonderful and exuberant Native American Shepherd
Dog purchased through Shirley and Night Eyes Farms.
My
wife and I did a considerable amount of reading about dogs before we
contacted
Shirley about purchasing a dog from her. We evaluated her as a breeder
and found her to be very careful about her puppies’ prospective new
homes.
We found Shirley genuinely concerned about her puppies’ future
well-being,
training, health, and home environment, prior to discussing any details
of purchase.
We
did a great deal of reading about puppy training in books that Shirley
had recommended to us before we brought our puppy home. Once Marti was
home, we realized by virtue of her behaviour and responses, that a
great
deal of effort and attention had gone into the socializing and training
of our puppy and her litter-mates in the eight weeks prior to our
seeing
and meeting her. Shirley and her family had done an exceptional job and
expended a great deal of energy in nurturing a puppy that has been a
wonderful
addition to our family. We cannot envision a house devoid of our puppy.
Marti is a wonderful, though energetic companion and a real hit with
people
of all ages. She is very receptive to other puppies and to dogs in
general.
To us, this is all indicative that she has a wonderful temperament, and
most importantly, that she has been socialized well with other people
and
dogs. She possesses a keen mind and is a really quick study: Sneaky
comes
to mind tooJ.
We
have a wonderful dialogue and relationship with Shirley and we are very
pleased and grateful to be in continual communication with her when we
have questions or concerns, or when we just want to share news about
our
doggie. Shirley is a wonderful resource whenever we have nutrition-,
training-
and behaviour-related questions. She also likes to know how her puppies
are doing in their now homes. In addition to Shirley’s support, she has
also put us in touch with other Native American Shepherd Dog owners,
whose
dogs were bred at Night Eyes Farms. They have been an invaluable
resource
when we had concerns or questions about this rare breed. This is
critical:
One can buy books on a variety of different breeds, but these dogs are
not well known: Other Native American Shepherd Dog owners are an
extremely
important source of information and advice. he consistent advice
provided from two independent sources, our puppy class trainer and
Shirley
early on, has resulted in a wonderful, intelligent, and gentle puppy
that
is an absolutely wonderful companion to our family.
Where
Marti and her behaviour are concerned, it is critical to identify one
attribute
that these dogs possess: They are highly intelligent. This does not
imply
that they are clairvoyant. They do require attention and training. They
are highly energetic and physically robust for their size. Having
said that, they are also very sensitive, loving and devoted. This is a
wonderful blend of qualities in a puppy: intelligence, physical
strength,
and a kind sensitivity. Clearly, any efforts expended in training them
and learning about (and with) them will be rewarded manifold. Again,
none
of our family can envision our home without Marti.
So,
those of you contemplating the ownership of a truly unique and
interesting
puppy should seriously consider a Native American Shepherd Dog from
Night
Eyes Farms. It is our sincere belief that you will enjoy a
wonderful
experience with your puppy and your puppy’s breeder!
One
final comment: We had the privilege of flying to Portland to pick up
our
puppy. We had the pleasure of meeting Shirley and her family. Our
discussions
with her then, just as our discussions prior to our meeting, had
convinced
us that Shirley breeds her dogs out of a genuine love for her dogs and
with a genuine concern for their well-being - it is not about money.
Night
Eyes Farms: We checked it out and we are very happy. You should check
it
out too!

P.S.
He is bigger now, and his ears stand straight up.
Dear
Shirley:
Oh,
I am so glad that this worked. I have been very busy with
trying
to get my life back on track. Anyway, this is my work email until I
figure
out a home account. I am sorry to hear about the situation that you had
with...I assume XXX-XXXXXX. That is really sad to find that
out.
Do you mind if I inquire about Nova's line. Is she part other
breeds?
I really will not be bothered by what you say. I love her no
matter
what. She is still the coolest dog ever!!!!!! She is doing very well.
She
is still having issues with tearing things apart she is not suppose to,
but it is a learning process.I never sent you the Vet information about
her being Spayed. I am not sure if it is too late. I have attached 2
photos
of her in the water at a friends summer home on a lake. She dove
right in. I will have to get a better photo of her. She is
Beautiful!!!!!!!
I get comments about her ALL the time. People think she is a fox. They
love her coloring and her sweet face. She also has a great wild look
that
keeps the unwanted people away from me. Yet, if they were to say hello,
she would just want to give the kisses. How is the "Hair" Indian puppy
doing?I hope well. I will definitely try to keep in touch more. I did
not
mean to loose communication with you. I love to hear how other puppies
are doing. Take care, Ellie
Shirley-
Sorry for this well over due update on our puppy Takoda. What a
little
bundle of joy he is! He has just brightened our home and life so
much. It is hard to imagine life without him.
A
few things that we have noticed about him that we thought we would ask
you about. He is very timid. He is startled very easily. Is this just a
characteristic of the breed? Also, he loves to pull you while he
is on his leash when we take him for a walk (every day :)). Is this
also
typical of this breed?
Overall,
no complaints at all! We just love him so very much and his
personality
is very charming. Everyone that meets him thinks he is as great as we
do.
Todd's
parents live in Chicago and when we went to visit a month ago, we
discovered
that their neighbor has a Native American Indian Dog. He is about a
month
younger than Takoda. Hate to be bias but Takoda is much more handsome.
I think they adopted him from Le Fem. Small world I guess.
Attached
are some pictures for you to see how handsome and big he is.
Take
Care!
Emily
and Todd
PS-
We recently had Takoda fixed. What type of document do you need for
your
records (i.e. original bill, note from doctor)?
